Going Further Movies in Year 1

The students in Mrs Baker's and Mrs Sgro's class finalised their iMovies showing how and why they made ramps for the 'Going Further' Design Technology Project. In groups the students filmed their gentle and hard car rolls and the measurements of these. Then they used Numbers app to create graphs to represent this data and use it, as well as some research, to make a decision about what to build to make a car go further, including materials. The students even included pictures of ramps they had researched in their iMovies. The students created very clear and well ordered titles in their iMovies to help tell the story of their project. Some of the designs were amazing! Well done Year 1s!

Explaining and Building in Year 2

The students in Mrs Summer's class continued to learn how to use the Explain Everything app on the iPads to create tutorial style explanations of their Pet Rock House creations. The students learned to take images of their buildings at different angles and crop these in order to be able to show the important design elements they built on their house. They then learned how to create multiple slides for their explanation and edit their recorded explanations. The students created some very enthusiastic expose's of their designs and constructed features such as sliding stairs, windows to see the garden, play areas and a moving toy swings to name a few. Well done Year 2s!

Mulitple data sets created - 3D Bar and 3D Line The students in Mrs Hodgson's class learned to create multiple data sets of dice rolls in order to be able to analyse and predict the probability of rolling given numbers on a dice. After tallying data of 10 / 20 and 40 dice rolls the students created 2D graphs to represent their data and labelled them appropriately in order to be able to make predictions viewing all 3 data sets. Finally, the students learned how to convert their graphs into different charts including 3D and interactive to enhance analysis.
