iMovie Movie Making Projects in Year 6

Image
The students in Mrs Wade's class worked towards completing their Digital Technologies/HaSS iMovie projects about a Myth or Legend. After planning for their audience or purpose they collected appropriate images and audio for their product, ensuring that they had satisfied copyright considerations for these while researching them e.g. audio from www.bensound.com Some students chose to create their audio in Garage Band app to ensure they were complying with copyright laws. Then they edited their media in iMovie to communicate the Myth or Legend appropriately. Finally, in today's lesson they sought feedback from their peers and acted on it to refine/complete their product based on this feedback.

After College Share Out Session

Image
Mrs Westlund in Action Sample Communication Books made by students in Yr. 5 using Book Creator The technologies after college session in Week 3 featured the 4 members of the Winthrop Australia team sharing out insights, experiences and work samples of their work from Term 1 to the present. Mrs Westlund shared a range of experiences around the Yr. 5 BeeBot project including wonderful video samples of the students communicating their projects. Further, this project integrated Keynote, Book Creator app and Scratch Jnr to form a comprehensive assessment of digital and design technologies with which the students had input into the assessment rubric. Mrs Foster elaborated on her work in Yr. 1 as part of a longitudinal focus from PP last Year through to the present. This included using online research resources such as Kiddle appropriate for Yr. 1 level, Popplet for organising information researched and the concept of the colour wheel for unplugged learning tasks. Digital Assessment in Year 5

Image
The Year 5's in Mrs Westlund's class used the iPad to do a formative assessment of their learning in Digital Technologies and even a question about Geography for HaSS which is coming up. After establishing an account at socrative.com and creating the quiz using multiple question types e.g. multi-choice, short answer the students logged in to the quiz via their internet browser. The results were generated as an Excel document with result summaries. The class were able to view the results anonymously to discuss areas of improvement as a whole. They then attempted to conduct the assessment again, with the option to work with a partner.

Recognising and Organising in PP

Image
Through creating their Popplet plans students practiced typing and spelling. Students identified and selected 'Old' images first. They were able to access their digital albums on the Camera Roll (Photos app) on the iPad. The students in Mrs Crabtree's PP class continued to develop their learning about things that are old and new. The Popplet app as with many of those on the iPad links to the camera roll. This allowed the students to use the digital album created for this task. Using this app on they were able to select those images that were old and those that were new to make a mind map of each. Then they synthesised this by identifying those that were related such as old clothes washing and new washing machine. Many of the images had been taken using the Camera app, providing an opportunity to practice photo taking.

Developing Digital Image Albums in PP

Image
The students in Mrs Crabtree's class are collecting photos from various resources such as books, cards and the internet, of old and new things. They are collecting them as a digital album on the iPad using the Camera app and the Safari app in preparation for organising them into 'Old' and 'New' using Popplet app.

Digital Rubric Development in Mrs Westlund's Class

Image
The Year 5 students in Mrs Westlund's class used a Padlet wall (created with an account at www.padlet.com) to finalise an assessment rubric for their Bee Bot Design Projects. They used the satisfactory achievement descriptor for each element (3) to develop the highly satisfactory (4), below standard (2) and not achieved (1) descriptor as a class. Initially they logged on to the Padlet wall via the QR code generated by Mrs Westlund. Then they made an agreement to communicate in this online space appropriately e.g. Identify their post with their group member names and not use emojis as it is a formal text. Then they synthesised the descriptors and wrote their own in their project pairs. The class were excited to use a rubric that they had direct input into to self-evaluate their projects.

Puppet Pals Short Stories in Mrs Foster's Class

Image
The Year 1's in Mrs Fosters class developed short stories using Puppet Pals HD app. They created characters by taking photos of themselves and a friend with the Camera app. They created backgrounds by taking photos of the classroom and selecting 2 from the app. All students then practiced telling a short story with 3 scenes by recording and reviewing it using the record/playback features in the app. Most students did a second recording after reviewing their first. The stories progressed well and some students volunteered to share out their stories to the class. The class will be looking at creating Rainbow Fish stories using Puppet Pals before going on excursion to AQUA.
