The technologies after college session in Week 3 featured the 4 members of the Winthrop Australia team sharing out insights, experiences and work samples of their work from Term 1 to the present. Mrs Westlund shared a range of experiences around the Yr. 5 BeeBot project including wonderful video samples of the students communicating their projects. Further, this project integrated Keynote, Book Creator app and Scratch Jnr to form a comprehensive assessment of digital and design technologies with which the students had input into the assessment rubric.
Mrs Foster elaborated on her work in Yr. 1 as part of a longitudinal focus from PP last Year through to the present. This included using online research resources such as Kiddle appropriate for Yr. 1 level, Popplet for organising information researched and the concept of the colour wheel for unplugged learning tasks.
Mrs Crabtree shared her learning design using technology in PP including a positional language task developed using Stop Motion app, talk for writing retells using Puppet Pals, Popplet app to identify and classify images. The power of tasks such as photo and video creation were highlighted as valuable fluency skills for PP level. All work was presented in a lovely Keynote presentation.
Finally, Mrs. Wade outlined the technology integration she had been applying in her Yr. 6 class. This included Numbers app for data collection/representation/analysis, Notes app for providing explicit demonstration and practice of note taking skills and iMovie app for developing a digital technologies product assessment - A Myths and Legend movie that conveys emotion to the audience.
The insight into learning design using technology at various year levels was valued by all participants particularly the capacity for differentiation and extension where possible.
